About Robert Royston

Robert Royston began his professional career on the competitive couples dance circuit in 1989, quickly ascending through the ranks and securing the “US Open Swing Dance Championship” and “World Country Dance Championship”, titles he held for four consecutive years (1995 to 1998). He also holds national titles in Salsa, Hustle and Adagio/Cabaret. After stepping off the competitive floor for a few years, Robert got back on the floor with his Wife Nicola and became the “2006 USA Grand National Cabaret Champion” and the “2006 US National Champion”, as well as winning many NASDE Showcase Swing Titles with Nicola. In 2007 he became the youngest person to be inducted to the “UCWDC Hall of Fame”. His exciting, high energy and original work next led to his choreographing and performing in music videos, which got the attention of the producers of the Broadway show, “Swing!” He spent a year and a half appearing in “Swing!”, performing his own choreography, and later became the assistant choreographer for the first National Tour of the production. Royston’s work has been featured in the production of “Gypsy of the Year” at New York’s Palace Theatre (a part of Broadway Cares/EFA), as well as “Destination Groove”, a Choreographer’s Showcase. His choreography was also featured in the New York workshop production of “Urban Cowboy”, a production in which he also performed.

In 2002 Royston became a producer and creator of the critically acclaimed show "SWANGO: The Musical”. The show ran in New York as a cabaret, and then on to a full show with performances in NYC. Three-time Tony Award winner Rupert
Holmes joined the creative team to write the script for the productions. Other Stage Shows include Neil Bergs “100 years of Broadway”, “Uncle Tom’s Cabin”, “Cheer, The Musical” (workshop), “Fashion the Musical” and the RDC production
of “StreetSwing.” In 2010 His latest work “One Ride” made its debut to rave reviews in NYC.

Currently Royston has completed Choreography for Taylor Swift’s sold out “Fearless” Tour and also finished producing and choreographing a new movie titled "Love n’ Dancing" (starring Amy Smart, Billy Zane). He has also choreographed Lakeshore Entertainments two new feature films “Gamer” (starring Gerard Butler and Michael C. Hall) and “Crank 2” (Starring Jason Statham and Amy Smart) In the music video world Royston has worked in all areas, from production, direction and choreography. Some of the video’s he has been involved with are Taylor Swifts “Love Story”, 2009 CMT Video of the year, Steel Magnolia’s “Last Night Again”, and Gloriana’s “Wanna Take You Home”, The Bellamy Brothers “Shine Them Buckles” and Roger Brown’s “Swing City”

Additional credits include: Creating choreography for the 2008 CMA Awards show on ABC, the 2009 and 2010 ACM Awards show on CBS, and the 2010 ACA show on Fox, and lastly working with the 6 time British Ice Dance Champions, The Kerr’s. Appearances on TV include The Today Show, The Rosie O'Donnell Show, The View, The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in 1999 and 2000, Nash Bridges, the 2000 Tony awards and judge and mentor on CMT Next Superstar. He is an internationally recognized judge and instructor, He teaches 22 different styles of couples dancing, and runs his own Production Company, RoRo Productions

About Nicola Royston

Nicola started her dance career in Ballet and Musical Theater, first attending the prestigious North Carolina School of Performing arts, Dance Department. She then found couples dancing and has gone on to become a UCWDC World Champion, USA Grand National dance champion, US National Dance Champion as well as a many time Showcase Swing Dance Champion and in 2011 was inducted into the Living Legends Dance Society.

But Nicola’s first career love has always been acting! Some of her credits are “The Last Night of Ballyhoo” (Sunny) at Queens Theater in the Park. Rupert Holmes' “Thumbs” w/Kathie Lee Gifford (Angel), “Expectations” (Karen), “Sam” w/Brain Murray and Elaine Stritch (Gwen) at The Helen Hayes Theater Company, “Urban Cowboy” (Pam) N.Y. Workshop Production, “Ms. Warren’s Profession” (Vive), “Queens of France” (Marie), “The Sicilian” (Isidore), “Bedtime Stories” (Angela) at The Oasis Theater Company. “Topper” (Beatrice), “Oedipus Private Eye” (Mitzie) at Musical Theatre Works, “Kiss Me Quick” (Mary) at North Shore Music Theater, and “The Contrast” (Jenny) at The Open Eye Theater. She also toured in “The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas”, TheaterWorksUSA.

She was very excited to perform her husband's choreography in “Gypsy of the Year” and “Destination Groove” both for Broadway Cares/EFA.

Her TV credits include, “All My Children”, “The Today Show”, “The 2008 CMA Award Show” on ABC. She also appeared in "Swango the musical", “Broadway’s Song and Dance”, and “StreetSwing”. She recently co-starred in the Feature film “Love N’ Dancing” Starring Amy Smart and Billy Zane and in 2010 co-directed with Husband Robert the hit stage show OneRide.
